Third Party Inspections

DMY Capitol has been providing Third Party Code Compliance Inspections at projects throughout the District of Columbia for over ten years.

DMY’s code compliance staff of registered engineers, architects and ICC certified personnel provide assistance to design professionals and building owners.to ensure that buildings are constructed or refurbished in accordance with the jurisdictional codes.


DMY is a registered third party inspection firm in the District, providing code compliance inspections on commercial, residential and institutional building projects within the public and private sectors.  Our experienced ICC certified inspectors will aid the project team through the complexities of the jurisdictional code requirements with the aim of reducing delays and costs. Our inspections include:

  • Construction Inspection:  Includes site inspections, footing inspections, non-structural concrete inspections, pre-cast concrete inspections, masonry inspections, wood construction inspections, structural steel inspections, roof, frame, deck, insulation inspections, fireplace inspections, construction on site, retaining wall inspections, and final building inspections.
  • Mechanical Inspection:  Includes piping, ventilation, exhaust systems, duct systems, refrigeration systems, combustion air provisions, chimneys and vents, boilers, water heaters, and pressure vessels.
  • Electrical Inspection:   Includes the inspections of general lighting and power requirements, location of electrical equipment, equipment in parking garage, wiring method, methods of grounding, equipment schedules, electrical power riser and single line diagram, fire and life safety systems wiring, and wiring methods in special use and occupancy.
  • Plumbing Inspection:  Includes the inspections of domestic water systems, fire water systems, sanitary sewer and vent systems, storm water sewer systems, fuel burning systems, site utilities, plumbing fixtures, accessibility to persons with disabilities, swimming pools, sump pumps/sewage ejectors, piping, combustion air provisions, and chimneys and vents.
  • Fire Protection Inspection:  Includes the inspections of the installation of fire protection systems, underground fire service main and appurtenances, automatic sprinkler system, fire alarm device installation, installation of fire resistance rated opening protective devices or assemblies, fire resistive construction and/or fireproofing, means of egress, installation of other life safety related items, layout and installation of gas distribution piping systems and fuel burning equipment, commercial kitchen automatic suppression systems, location of manual fire extinguishing equipment, functional and final acceptance tests of life safety related equipment, devices and systems.
